Etching Primer (TS-664) is very well liked because it creates a sandable acid etching bond to any surface it has been applied to. It covers in just one coat producing a tenacious bond quickly and effectively without the worry of mixing multiple components or limited pot life. Etching Primer meets government specification number TT-P-664D so you know you are getting the best. It is highly effective, economical to use and easy to apply. Etching Primer produces a high build barrier coating over a wide variety of substrates including concrete, masonry, tile, vinyl, wood, fiberglass – even linoleum and VCT tile! It is approved for direct to metal applications including steel, iron even aluminum! It is flexible enough to be applied directly to wood and vinyl sheet goods! It may be used in areas where there is light motorized traffic. 

It is a miracle worker because the bond is guaranteed on virtually ANY well prepared surface in most cases without sanding, grinding or blasting when properly applied. Just clean with TS-695 Etching Cleaner, allow it to dry thoroughly and roll it on. It is a hi-performance phenolic modified alkyd primer specially formulated for use with hard to prime surfaces. Also acceptable for use with metal, iron and wooden surfaces. TS-664 Etching Primer is a lacquer proof, fast-drying, high solid, primer coating that inhibits rust, is resistant to salt spray and penetrates cracks around light rust and mill scale. Finish coats such as two-component urethanes and nitrocellulose lacquers may be applied directly over it without the worry of lifting or wrinkling.

Stats: This product is intended to serve as a primer coating for floors. IMPORTANT: A protective coating  must be applied over it as a wear layer. Coverage is 250-300 square feet per gallon, depending on the texture and porosity of the surface. Dries to the touch in 30 minutes. Recoatable in 1-2 hours. Apply by brush, roller or spray. Allows for low temperature curing (as low as 35 F.) Color: White or Red Oxide. Finish is low sheen.

Recommended preparation: Refer to Application Instructions Sheet included with order, label directions and standard industry application practices. For best results remove existing epoxy floor coatings, old floor paint, loose scale, wax, oil and contaminates. For best results sand, blast, grind or power-wash prior to the application of any primer or coating. Concrete, masonry, tile, fiberglass or aluminum-strongly recommend the use of TS-695 Etching Cleaner. All wood surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and dry before the application of primer or coatings. .All surfaces must be thoroughly dry and free of contaminates before the application of any floor coating system.

Thin & clean up: Use only with factory recommended thinner, TS-605 Thinner. Clean all equipment thoroughly with TS-605 Thinner. Clean up with TS-605 Thinner.
